These may be in the form of basic SMS (short messaging service), MMS (multimedia messaging service),WAP (wireless application protocol), and wireless broadband or Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) . “For transactions requiring interpersonal relationships, a voice call using the mobile phone is the most predominant means of communication today; but for actual transactions where data and details have to be exchanged, electronic data communication like email or SMS and other forms of machine-to-machine communication via the Internet is the way to go,” says Robertson (Dick) Chiang, chief operation officer and chief technology officer at Internet service provider, Mosaic Communications Inc. (MozCom). Pascual agrees, adding that, aside from email, instant messaging is also gaining popularity now such that companies have activated their intra-office chat facilities or have opened up their security policies to also allow messages from outside the network. “The trend I see now is that more seem to be inclined with newer means of communication like VoIP, Internet chatting, social Web sites, and the rest all lumped into Web 2.0 applications,” Pascual explains, who adds that this trend could be due to the availability of these facilities and the perceived lower cost of using these communication methods in contrast to the traditional telephone lines. “There is certainly more data usage over phone lines today than, say, 10 years ago when data transmission was mostly just through fax or telex. Email, instant messaging, and other Web-based communication tools are indispensable today. It would be almost impossible to conduct business today without these tools,” Chiang adds. Asked how these trends have affected MozCom’s business model, Chiang says, “Mozcom pioneered Internet service in the Philippines, so I would like to think that we helped usher in this revolution in the country. But as the Internet infrastructure landscape has matured and, to a large part, has been commoditized by the telcos, Mozcom is going up the value chain ladder.” According to Chiang, the ISP is now more focused on providing total solutions to businesses and the Internet connectivity may come from someone else. According to Chiang, when the Internet boomed during the mid 1990s, everybody wanted to be a dialup ISP but the introduction of low-cost broadband (DSL and, now, wireless mobile broadband) “killed that industry and completely changed the playing field.” “From an industry with lots of entrepreneurial spirit, it has now become largely a telco game.

The technopreneurs now have to focus more on value-added content as the connectivity and infrastructure businesses have switched to the telcos,” Chiang explains. This is why, unlike before where the company was only interested in giving Internet connectivity to, say, a would-be online merchant, today, MozCom would be more interested in providing that same merchant a turnkey online store complete with online payments and online marketing services such as search engine optimization (SEO) and banner ad placements, among others. Wintertime brings along snow, and snow attracts kids from all over, as they engage in snowball fights, and sledging to make the most out of the days off school. Snowboarding, skiing, sliding down slopes on your ass, all equally enjoyable. Toboggans have existed for ages, but none as impressive as the Surfster Double Black Ice Snow Sled, which allows you to watch your fellow thrill seeker as they manouevure down the hill with you.The Sled works well in the snowy conditions, but due to the fact that it has re-enforced nylon and foam straps built in, it can be used as a water tow. Body boarders can enjoy the board in the water, riding the waves in style. The sled is available from Cheetah Trading, for $80, despite initial indications that the price would be double.

The Digital Shield Golf Glove. Finally, an elegant solution to a problem that plagues golfers: blistering and chafing of the thumb, middle and index finger of the exposed bottom hand (the right hand for a right-handed golfer or left hand for a left-handed golfer). Game Theory Inc. introduces the Digital Shield(R), a streamlined, open-palmed glove for the bottom hand, created to protect against blistering and chafing while maximizing tactile sensitivity. It is the only glove of its kind that conforms to USGA and R&A Rules. Game Theory President Justin Salomon says, "I was susceptible to chafing on my off hand and suspected I wasn't alone. After talking with hundreds of weekend golfers, pros and golf instructors, we knew we were on to something."The Digital Shield(R) subscribes to the principle, "Less is more." Combining functionality with modern design, the glove provides protection to vulnerable areas of the bottom hand, but safeguards a golfer's touch by reducing weight and coverage to an absolute minimum. The Digital Shield(R) is remarkable for what it doesn't have.Until now, remedies used to shield from rubbing against the club's grip have included Band-Aids(R) or adhesive tape. Both tend to roll-up or shift with repeated swings and leave a sticky residue. Replacement bandages are even less effective as they often do not properly adhere to a perspiring hand.Alternative solutions like the full and half-fingered glove are unnecessarily hot and compromise feel for the club and ball.Salomon added, "By reducing the incidence of blisters, the Digital Shield(R) fosters the additional enjoyment of golf and improves athletic performance by allowing golfers to play golf in more comfort. The points of contact on the off hand are no longer vulnerable to blisters, chafing, and the discomfort that distracts a golfer from focus, play, and pleasure. In addition to a round of golf, the Digital Shield(R) is well suited for the driving range where golfers pound out one ball after another."The Digital Shield(R) is scheduled to be launched for the summer 2008 season and made available at top pro shops, golf specialty shops and sport stores worldwide. Papyrus helped early man to record language and numbers. The abacus was one of the first counting machines. . Some of the earlier mechanical counting machines lacked the technology to make the design work. For instance, some had parts made of wood prior to metal manipulation and manufacturing. Imagine the wear on wooden gears. Hitmill.com strives to always include related links for a broader educational experience.

Computer HistoryYear/Enter
Computer HistoryInventors/Inventions
Computer HistoryDescription of Event

             old to ----> new

1936
Konrad Zuse - Z1 Computer
First freely programmable computer.
1942
John Atanasoff & Clifford BerryABC Computer
Who was first in the computing biz is not always as easy as ABC.
1944
Howard Aiken & Grace HopperHarvard Mark I Computer
The Harvard Mark 1 computer.
1946
John Presper Eckert & John W. It is used to teach and learn.

Computers help us do everyday tasks more easily...we can now shop, bank, and even sell things quicker and more efficiently online...and I guess now, we don't need to know proper grammer either.

It makes a program to run faster. storing of data, retreiving of data is done within a few second, also processing of any data is done faster using computer than any other mechanical machine.

Genarally it affect our various prospect of life in banking, crime investigation, networking, business and so on.

LATEST TECHOLOGY

LG's latest concept phone from the MWC last week, it is equipped with solar panels allowing it to help the environment by reducing the need to use non-renewable resources. When you think of technology and gadgets that harvest solar energy I tend to think of large chunky panels but in fact the concept phone below is quite the opposite.

The X340 will be a 13.4 inch laptop, while the X600, a 15.6 inch. Both are Centrino 2 based and the X600 even has an eSATA port on top of its two USBs. Unfortunately we don’t know the full specs yet other than both pack a HDMI port - though we’d have to assume the X340 is an improved version of the same sized X320, we expect more news on the whole MSI X-Slim range at the CeBIT computer shortly next month.

Lego PC mod, you may still remember some of the workable custom Lego gadgets we've featured in the past, such as the latest PC mod, Lego Mac Pro, Lego V8 engine, Lego Safe and Lego Playstation. What make this Lego PC special is the fact that the creators have added emotion and feeling into this piece of work (it's art!). The Lego PC has many tiny Lego figures surrounding it, actually a house or a lodge of some sort! And inside the actual model, representing a scene of a lively and friendly Lego town is the PC's hardware. Computer hardware doesn't feel cold afterall! More Pictures in this post and over at our gallery page.

Rolls-Royce has released the official details and images of its new and upcoming 200EX. While Rolls-Royce has deemed the Geneva-bound 200EX a concept, expect almost every exterior and interior detail to carry over to the production model when it arrives in 2010. So what is the 200EX going to be like? Think of the best cues from the Phantom and Drophead Coupe and fit them into a decidedly smaller package then you get the 200EX.
